Scottish golfer Kylie Walker made history at the German Open on Friday as she equalled the lowest score for 36 holes on the Ladies European Tour.

Walker leads on 16 under par after day two. The 24-year-old was one of three players to fire a 64 on the first day but she was the only one who could repeat the feat in the second round.

The last woman to post Walker's score was Gwladys Nocera at the Gothenburg Masters in 2008.

Six birdies on the front nine saw Walker reach the turn in 30 and, although she dropped shots at 12 and 17, she picked up further strokes at 13, 15, 16 and 18 to establish a three-shot lead over Yu Yang Zhang.

Zhang followed her own 64 with a 67 and was a shot clear of Dewi Claire Schreefel, who added a 64 to her opening 68.

England's Charley Hull was the other woman to open with a 64 but she could only record a 70 to sit alongside Anne-Lise Caudal at 10 under in fourth.
