The 11th edition of the Red Bull Romaniacs Prologue saw 350 riders from as many as 35 nations taking part in the event.

A look at the course and one would be forgiven for thinking riders would attempt to negotiate their way around it slowly and strategically.

However, as is often the case with extreme sports, competitors throw caution to the wind in favour of the spectacular.

While the riders were able to fly through most of obstcles without too much trouble, 120 tons of rocks proved tough going for all.

In addition, the course featured, 130 tons of wood used to create obstacles and a makeshift track as well as 3km worth of fences.

The race made for a wonderful spectacle for the crowd present to watch.

Last year's winner Paul Bolton triumphed once again.

It proved to be an all-British podium with Graham Jarvis in second and Jonny Walker in third.
