"It was the grandest Grand Depart ever, that's true. French people were really impressed by what they watched and saw on TV. Before the Tour I had people asking 'why are you going abroad, north of the UK, why in Yorkshire?' and now not at all. I got many, many messages from friends and many of them are journalists, it's just incredible, it's huge, it's humongous. So the vision for many people of the Grand Depart has changed."
