SOUNDBITE (English) Brian Cookson, UCI President :
(on criticism of the process for catching doping cheats)

"It's in the nature of the biological passport that these are long terms cases that take a lot of time and a lot of expert scientific analysis to reach the conclusion. You always have to give the rider the ability to contest those findings so that's why they do take a long time. It's very frustrating for everybody involved and I can understand and appreciate that. We are looking at ways in which we can speed up the process. But the scientific side of it is always going to be difficult when you're talking about long term testing and variations of values rather than presence or not of a given substance."
