  • Intro:

Players competing in the Open Championship were looking ahead on Tuesday to doing battle at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Merseyside for the 'Claret Jug'.

    Script:

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Graeme McDowell

(asked how important the Open Championship is to him):

"I think the Open Championship is the special one, there's no doubt. Augusta (where the Masters is played) kind of has that same mystique and tradition as well, because of the venue and what it creates and kind of walking in the footsteps of the greats, but the Open Championship seems to maintain that mystique as it goes around the various golf courses. It maintains that kind of pride, tradition, history, all of the above, and the Claret Jug's a bit special. I'd give my left arm for a Claret Jug, I probably would actually. That would be the end of my career, but…. it would be a nice way to go."
