The Hamburg Open first round continued in Germany on Monday.
Serbian qualifier Filip Krajinovic rallied to defeat Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff in three sets.
Struff cruised to victory to take the first set 6-1.
The second was a much tighter affair but Krajinovic broke the 24-year-old to win 7-5 and level the match.
Despite playing against a partisan crowd, Krajinovic broke Struff again to claim the third set 6-2 and the match. Next up is second seed Fabio Fognini.
There was some comfort for the home supporters as German Dustin Brown beat Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets.
Busta showed just why he was the 2013 ATP Most Improved Player of the Year by taking a 5-4 lead in the first set. But Brown eventually held on to win the tie-break.
It was a far more straightforward task for the world number 104 in the second, as Brown recorded a 7-6 6-3 victory.
Waiting for the 29-year-old in the next round is ninth seed Fernando Verdasco.
