The World Rallycross Championship reached the halfway stage in Belgium on Sunday.

Going into the race, Reiniss Nitiss led the standings on 112, from Petter Solberg in second.

Although Nitiss was sure to drop off top spot as he failed to qualify for the final.

Toomas Heikkinen - in a VW Polo - grabbed the early advantage with Solberg pressing hard behind.

By lap two it was still reigning Global Rallycross champion Heikkinen in control, Solberg was joined by Pontus Tidemand in hot pursuit.

Despite Solberg having some nervy moments, he somehow managed to stay ahead of his rivals after four laps.

Although mechanical problems put Tidemand out of contention on lap five, Heikkinen was now back and threatening Solberg's lead.

But Solberg lost vital seconds and Heikkinen swept past him to claim the victory.

Timmy Hansen and Kristofferson also benefited from Solberg's misfortune to claim second and third.

Still, Solberg's fourth place finish was enough to move him to the top of the drivers' standings at the halfway stage of the Championship.
