  • Intro:

Spanish third seed Roberto Bautista Agut beat Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 to win the Mercedes Cup at Stuttgart in Germany on Sunday (July 13).

    Script:

Roberto Bautista Agut faced Lukas Rosol in the Mercedes Cup final on Sunday.

Bautista Agut, who defeated defending champion and top-seeded Fabio Fognini, claimed his maiden victory at `s-Hertogenbosch last month.

Rosol, who knocked out second seed Mikhail Youzhny of Russia in the semi-finals, was also bidding for his second title after winning at Bucharest last year.

Yet it was Bautista Agut who claimed the first set after the Czech fired a return long.

Yet Rosol came back and at 5-4 up in the second forced the error from the Spaniard to level it up.

If the fightback from Rosol was impressive, the early loss of serve in the decider was anything but.

The Spaniard didn't let up and finished off a comfortable 6-2 set to take the title.

Bautista Agut will break into the world top 20 for the first time when the rankings are released on Monday.
