Jeremy Lin's time in Houston is at an end. The Rockets traded the guard and two draft picks on Sunday to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for the rights to European prospect Sergei Lishchuk.

Lin averaged 12.5 points and 4.1 assists in 71 games last season, but lost his starting place in Houston because coach Kevin McHale preferred Patrick Beverley's defensive play.

Lin's thus far four-year NBA has seen him play for the Warriors, Knicks and Rockets, holds career averages of 11.9 points, 4.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 217 career games (140 starts).

He will earn around US $15 million this season in the last year of a deal that counts only US $8 million against the salary cap.

The Lakers have the cap room to absorb the 25-year-old's contract and general manager Mitch Kupchak says the trade allows the team to acquire a solid player

Lishchuk, a 32-year-old Ukrainian center for Valencia in Spain, was originally drafted by Memphis in 2004 and has been traded in the NBA twice already.
