"To build a partnership like that with Joe (Root) was a brilliant feeling. We enjoyed every minute of it. Just glad that we managed to get our team back in the game as well."

"I though that we had a really good plan that at the start of yesterday when we came together he was taking most of the strike, giving me two balls at the end of an over to face. Worked out really well. And then today did the same thing. And then once ... once I got myself in we started rotating a bit more, more regularly. And try and really chip away at their lead. And then obviously we got in front as well."

"I did think last night that if I was ever going to get a 50, it would be on a wicket like this where you feel like there are only a certain amount of dismissals, or certain balls that can get you out. Didn't feel like the short ball was going to be that dangerous because it was so slow you can just stand up and play it. So just got a game plan and tried to stick to it today and Joe helped me stick to it."

    SOUNDBITE (English): James Anderson, England

"Joe came down the wicket and said 'milk it' but I didn't really know what that meant so I just sort of did the rounds with the bat. I've seen people point at the dressing room so I did that as well."
