Number five seed Philipp Kohlschreiber comfortably beat fellow German Jan-Lennard Struff 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 32 at the ATP 250 Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart on Thursday (10July).

Fourth seed Feliciano Lopez beat Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the second round of the Mercedes Cup, in Stuttgart on Thursday.

Lopez surged into an early 3-0 in the first set, but squandered set points when 6-5 up, eventually losing an opening set tie-break.

The Spanaird was aiming to win his second ATP Tour title of the season and took the nexzt two sets 6-2 6-3 for a place in the quarter finals.

And Lopez will face Lukas Rosol in the last eight, after Rosol beat home favourite Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Kohlschreiber had reached the second round with a 6-4 6-3 win over Jan-Lennard Struff early in the day, but was unable to build on that victory, when he made his return to the court in the afternoon.

Rosol eventually came through 7-5, 7-6 to seal his place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
