    Script:

A whipping wind off the North Sea at The Royal Aberdeen Golf Club would make life difficult for the field playing the Scottish Open on Friday.

Overnight leader Rory McIlroy followed his course record, seven-under-par 64 with a seven-over 78.

He sits in a group tied for 35th place.

Phil Mickelson went double-bogey, birdie, bogey over his last three holes for a two-over round of 73.

Luke Donald hit the shot of the day at the fifth - the Briton's second shot rolling in for eagle.

Donald failed to build on that success and carded a two-over 73 for a share of ninth place.

Justin Rose followed his opening round 69 with a three-under-par 68, moving to five-under and into fourth place.

Marc Warren shot an up-and-down second round, more than cancelling out his four bogeys by rolling in six birdie putts for a two-under 69.

    Broberg joined Warren on six-under-par.

Ricardo Gonzalez leads the field, sitting at eight-under-par for the event after 14 holes of his second round.

Joint second with Broberg overnight, the Argentine was two-under for the round by the turn and parred the first five holes on the back nine to remain top of the leaderboard.
