    SOUNDBITE: (English) Rory McIlroy:

"Yeah definitely, you know, going out this morning in these blustery conditions I thought anything sort of in the sixties was going to be a good score, so to shoot something a bit better than that is very pleasing. Just the way I controlled my golf out there, I was really pleased with, that's the real key for me to play well on links courses and I was able to do that really well today."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Rory McIlroy:

"Yeah, six birdies in seven holes definitely helped as well. Yeah, I just started to hit some good shots and see the putts going in. I 'd started to roll the ball...I rolled the ball well all day as well, which was a big thing for me. I didn't putt so well in Ireland or at the US Open in the last couple of tournaments, so to putt well coming out at the first tournament back today was nice."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Rory McIlroy:

"It really has yeah, I had a really good practice week last week and, you know, again, just practicing the shots that I thought that I'd need this week, and obviously thinking ahead to next week as well, the Open Championship. And just to be able to trust those shots I was playing in practice and see how they were performing on the course, that's the most pleasing thing for me today, apart from, obviously, the 64."
