  • Intro:

Alastair Cook spoke about selection issues, particularly Ben Stokes ahead of England's first Test against India in Nottingham.

SOUNDBITE (English): Alastair Cook, England captain (on selection issues over all-rounder Ben Stokes):

"Yeah, I mean it's a tough selection call and that's what you want as a captain and as a coach of a team. You've got a guy who's been out injured, he's come back and got 10 wickets for Durham. In his previous record for those four Test matches in a tough situation in Australia, he was the stand-out player. So, and then you've got other people who've done well in his absence, that's a great place to be. So whoever misses out or who does play, I'm sure they'll be desperately keen to keep their place and that can only be healthy competition."
