Usain Bolt and no Asafa Powell may have been missing, but another Jamaican made his presence felt at the 100 metres final in Paris on Saturday.
Nickel Ashmeade reacted angrily to disqualification from the event following a false start, complaining that noise inside the Stade de France had distracted him.
Ashmeade's protest went on for several minutes, but once calm had been restored, Michael Rodgers triumphed in a time of 10.00 seconds.
Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago was second in 10.08 and Kim Collins finished third in 10.10 seconds.
Elsewhere in the field Croatia's Blanka Vlasic cleared a season's best of 2.00 metres to claim victory in the women's high jump event.
And in the 400m Olympic champion Sanya Richards-Ross of the USA finished strongly to win in a time of 50.10.
Whilst Stephenie Ann McPherson of Jamaica came second and Novlene Williams-Mills third.
