Kevin Stadler will take a four-shot lead into the final round of the French Open, after carding a one over par round of 72 on Saturday.

In challenging conditions Stadler, playing in Paris for the first time, held par at crucial times to maintain a cushion over the rest of the field.

Elsewhere in the field defending champion Graeme McDowell struggled to a two-over-par 73, despite this superb chip on the sixth hole.

McDowell shares seventh place with four others, eight shots off the pace.

Meanwhile Martin Kaymer also chipped in at the eighth for birdie on his way to a one-under-par 70. And Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee lies four shots behind following a two-under-par 69.

Whilst local hero Victor Riu lost his way on the back nine shipping six bogeys and ending up with a score of 73.
