  • Intro:

Fabrizio Zanotti won a four-way playoff to claim the BMW International Open title on Sunday (29 June) and become the first player from Paraguay to win on the European Tour.

    Script:

Heading into the final round of the BMW International in Cologne, Pablo Larrazabal was the man to catch: starting the day with a three shot lead.

The Spaniard would drop off the pace, resulting in the tournament going down to a four way play-off.

Away from the leaders, Englishman James Heath hit this ace at the 16th. Heath would finish on 12 under tied for 45th.

Frenchman Gregory Havret started the day four shots off the lead, and his six under round lead to his place in the play-offs.

World No 2 Henrik Stenson had a chance to win the tournament outright on the 18th, yet his put just didn't. quite have the legs.

Havret & Stenson were joined by Rafael Cabrera-Bello and Fabrizio Zanotti in the play-off.

Zanotti birdied the 2nd play-off hole along with Cabrera-Bello and Stenson, Havret's four eliminated him.

It came down to Stenson and Zanotti on the teasing 17th. The Swede went for the green & like his putt to win on the 18th, he just came up short.

Zanotti holed out for the win and thus becomes the first Paraguayan to win on the European Tour. Quite a way to win your maiden trophy on the continent.
