SOUNDBITE: (English) John Coates, Vice President of International Olympic Committee and Chairman of Coordination Commission for the Olympic games, Tokyo 2020:

"I think our advise was well if there's that opposition, look for another site. And they have identified another site on the same island quite proximate and the stage we're at now is we've recommended that there'll be discussions with the International Federation just as, to the exact design, we also have said, have a look at what you want to do with this afterwards. Is this an area that's going to be our venue that will be used say for community -- rafting, as we've seen at other venues, or is it just going to be for the games themselves - we hope it's not."

SOUNDBITE: (English) John Coates, Vice President of International Olympic Committee and Chairman of Coordination Commission for the Olympic games, Tokyo 2020:

"We are not thinking about a change of venue to a venue in Saitama - if that's the pronunciation. Nothing has been put to us in that regard. We are having a general discussion at the moment. Yes, it was an important factor for all of us, the compactness of the games."
