The new National Stadium in Singapore played host to the inaugral World Club 10s rugby competition on Sunday.

The tournament is the first event to be staged at the new multi-purpose stadium in Singapore.

With the first rounds played the previous day, the crowds were treated to the eagerly awaited final between the tournament's two best teams.

The final was between two southern hemisphere teams with the Brumbies of Australia taking on the Blues from New Zealand.

The Australian side were the pre-tournament favourites and looked to be living up to that label as Conrad Hoffman put them ahead with a try through the Blues defence.

The South African showing excellent timing as he burst straight through the middle.

The Blues equalised early in the second half as Tom McCartney dived in to level the scores.

With neither team able to find a decider the game went into extra time, and eventually a quick turnover resulted in a Blues penalty which led to the winning try.

The win means the Auckland Blues become the inaugral World Club 10s champions.
