Last year Feliciano Lopez won the Aegon International ahead of Wimbledon and the Spanaird emulated that success by once again winning in Eastbourne.

Lopez faced France's Richard Gasquet in the final with the world number 25 looking for his first ATP singles title of the season and only the fourth win of his career against Gasquet.

It started well for the 32-year-old Spaniard, the defending champion would break Gasquet again, on set point, to take the first set 6-3.

Both men traded a break of serve each in the second set as it went to a tie-break, which the French world number 14 won.

Lopez and Gasquet both held serve until the Spaniard finally found a way through when Gasquet sent a return long at advantage down on his own serve at 5-5.

Lopez held his nerve - and his serve - in the next game to retain his title 6-3, 6-7, 7-5.
