23 year-old Colombian Johan Esteban Chaves wins the penultimate eighth stage of the Tour of Switzerland in Verbier on Saturday, but Germany's Tony Martin retains the leader's yellow jersey.
Script:
Tony Martin is a step closer to winning the tour of Switzerland after keeping the yellow jersey on Saturday's penultimate stage.
The main breakaway left the peloton 30 kilometres into the day, and featured Spain's Jose Joaquin Rojas who was part of an eight-rider group to built up a lead of more than six minutes at the halfway mark.
But in the end it was , 23 year-old Colombian Johan Esteban Chaves who crossed the line first as he attacked 2.6 kilometres out.
Chaves saw off serious competition to hold on and take the biggest stage win of his career after more than five hours and 11 minutes in the saddle.
But it's Germany's Tony Martin, who finished seventh, that will be celebrating as he retained the yellow jersey.
Martin holds a 51-second advantage over Tom Dumoulin going into Sunday's conclusion which will take the peloton on another mountainous route.
