Tago upsets Chong Wei in Indonesia Open semi-finals

    Defending champion Lee Chong Wei lost to Kenichi Tago in the semi-finals of the Indonesia Open at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Saturday.

    Lee Chong Wei was one win away from reaching the final of the Indonesia Open and setting up the chance to defend his title but in Kenichi Tago he had a worthy opponent.

    Tago was in determined mood as the Japanese player took the first game 21-16.

    Though Chong Wei levelled in the second game, 21-15, Tago fought back in the third game to upset the five-time winner in 71 minutes.

    In the other semi-final, second seed Chen Long from China was knocked out by third seed Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark in two games, 21-19, 21-18 whilst in the women's singles, world champion Ratchanok Intanon came out a winner in three games, 19-21, 21-16, 21-13 against former world number one Wang Shixian in 83 minutes.

    Olympic champion Li Xuerui from China continued her good form to beat Nichaon Jindapon of Thailand in two straight games, 21-19, 21-10.

    The sixth seeds, Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong of South Korea, reached the final of the men's doubles after beating Chinese duo Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan in two games, 21-16, 23-21.

    The women's doubles final will be an all Chinese affair between Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei and Ma Jin and Tang Yuanting after they beat their respected South Korean opponents in the semis.
