Angelique Kerber reached the Aegon International final with a three-set win over Caroline Wozniacki in Eastbourne, UK on Friday (June 20).

    Script:

Germany's fifth seed Angelique Kerber took on eighth seed Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark in the semi-finals of the Aegon International tournament in Eastbourne on Friday.

The Dane was bidding to qualify for her first final since news emerged that her engagement to golf star Rory McIlroy had ended.

Wozniacki took the lead in the match after winning the first set 6-3, and then saved set point in the second to force a tiebreak.

But Kerber held out to take the tiebreak after Wozniacki sent a return into the net.

In the final set, the German broke twice en route to a 3-6, 7-6, 6-3 victory as she booked her place in the trophy match of the last warm-up event before Wimbledon.
