Fifth seed Angelique Kerber booked her place in the last four after coasting past Russian Ekaterina Makarova.

The German broke Makarova in the opening set, which she went on to win.

Kerber dominated from start to finish and only dropped three games. Her 6-2 6-1 success secured her passage into the semi-finals, where she'll meet Caroline Wozniacki.

Wozniacki booked her place in the last four despite the first set tie-break to Italian Camila Giorgi.

Midway through the second set, the momentum shifted in the Dane's favour. Wozniacki broke Giorgi to take the second set before serving out the match 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.
