    Richard Gasquet celebrated his 28th birthday by coming through a testing opener at the Aegon International on Wednesday.

    Playing in just his third tournament since April, due to a back injury, Gasquet won the opening set against Bernard Tomic 6-4.

    Tomic won the second, but the top seed Gasquet, who is seeking his third ATP grass-court title,eventually won 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 for a place in the quarter-finals.

    Elsewhere defending men's champion Feliciano Lopez beat German qualifier Tobias Kamke 7-6, 7-5.

    Lopez final lost in the final at Queen's Club on Sunday, going down to Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov, despite having been match-point up.

    But he came through this test in two-hours to earn his 20th win of the season and set up a meeting witth Frenchman Jeremy Chardy in the last eight.
