Justin Gatlin's excellent season continued at the Ostrava Golden Spike meeting on Tuesday, as the American sprinter - who continues to benefit from the absence of injured world-record holder Usain Bolt - won the men's 100m in a World Leading 9.85 seconds.
Gatlin was the only man to run sub-10 seconds.
Two-time 400m world champion LaShawn Merritt had vowed to break the meeting record and kept his word, winning the men's 400m in 44.16 seconds.
Genzele Dibaba was equally impressive with a World Leading and meeting record of 5 minutes, 27.50 in the women's 2000 metres, just two seconds off Sonia O'Sullivan's world mark.
At the last minute, world champion Bohdan Bondarenko decided to compete in the high jump, three days after jumping a personal best of 2m 42cm in New York.
The Ukrainian broke the Golden Spike record of 2m 32cm by one centimetre to win the event.
World champion Vitezslav Vesely kept home hopes very much alive wtih victory in the men's javelin.
His first throw of the afternoon proved to be his season's best at 87.38m.
Renaud Lavillenie was some way short off the world record he set in February.
Olympic champion Allyson Felix sprinted to victory in the women's 200m.
And Kenya's Caleb Ndiku smashed the men's 3000m meeting record with a World Leading run of 7 minutes 31.66 seconds.
