    Script:

Philipp Kohlschreiber, the last home entrant left in the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany, faced the world number 69 Alejandro Falla in the semi-finals on Saturday.

The 30-year-old German had saved five match points in his quarter-final against compatriot Dustin Brown to book his spot against Falla.

He got off to a good start, breaking his Colombian opponent twice in the first set on his way to winning it 7-5.

The second set was far more even, with both players holding serve and forcing a tiebreak before Kohlschreiber committed an error on his serve needing to save set point.

After a short rally, he sent the ball into the net to give his opponent, ranked some 42 places below him in the men's ATP singles rankings, the second set win.

The German took the upper hand early in the third by breaking Falla's serve, but the Colombian battled back.

Falla broke back quickly, before holding serve and then breaking Kohlschreiber's at the most important time - on match point.

The 30-year-old Colombian's 5-7 7-6 6-4 win sent him through to only his second career ATP Tour final, where he will play second-seeded former world number one Roger Federer.
