The 88 riders from 18 different teams faced 167 kilometres from Segitiga Park, Sawahlunto, to Sangir Padang Aro in South Solok on Saturday.

A crucial passage of action - as Sunday's final stage will be a relatively flat run from South Pesisir to Padang City and could be something of a procession.

Soufiane Haddi of the UAE won the eighth stage in a time of four hours 25 minutes and eight seconds.

The Skydive Dubai Pro Cycling Team rider was followed by Amir Zargari, an Iranian rider of the Pishgaman Yazd squad who was awarded the same time.

Third and fourth positions also went to PKY riders Ramin Mehrbaniazar in and Rahim Emami

In the King of the Mountain category, Mehrbaniazar wins after collecting 40 points. With just a flat test to come, the polka dot jersey is his.

The green sprinter's jersey is held by Cris Joven of T7E.

And barring a calamity, Zargari should hold onto the overall lead.
