SOUNDBITE (English) Justin Rose/ 1-under for the day, 1-over for the tournament:

"Yeah, he's always been strong under pressure. I think he's always won quite a few golf tournaments. And he's had a quiet few years, but at the PLAYERS Championship, that's a golf course that tests your resolve as much as any other and he's obviously came through that with flying colors. For just was a little bit, I've been watching him play and listening to him. He seems very clear and comfortable with what he's doing. So obviously the next two days will really test him and find out how just how comfortable he is, but right now he looks great."

SOUNDBITE (English) Henrik Stenson/ 1-under for the day, 2-under for the tournament, on Martin Kaymer and his impact of the tournament:

"Yeah we'll have to wait and see but if we give him the weekend off, it's a pretty exciting leaderboard. He's kind of killed it almost, playing so well. It's very impressive and good to see, and the rest of us are just going to have to try to catch him now over the weekend. If the conditions stay soft, yeah, maybe it opens up for being a little bit more aggressive. There's still a lot of golf to be played and a lot of things can happen. It's one of them that should you go out and start charging when there's 36 holes to go or should you hold off and see what happens. Then you run the risk of definitely not having a chance to catch the leader. So we'll just have to wait and see."

SOUNDBITE (English): Rory McIlroy/2-under for the day, 1-under for the tournament (Martin Kaymer's 36-hole score of 130 broke the 36-hole US Open record of 131 set by Rory McIlroy in 2011):

"I think what Martin's doing is more impressive than what I did at Congressional, just because of how difficult the golf course is and there's trouble lying at every corner at any missed green. Congressional was a little more benign than this is, a little softer, a little more receptive. So you know what Martin's doing is very impressive."
