Badminton: Top seeds progress at Japanese Open

    The top seeds moved through on Friday (13th June) to the semi-finals of the Japanese Open in Tokyo.

    Script:

    The semi-finals of the Japanese Open took place on Friday, with the Chinese pairing of Nan Zhang and Yunlei Zhao progressing to the semi-finals.

    Meanwhile in the women's doubles event Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi beat Yuriko Miki and Koharu Yonemoto, after Miki had to retire through injury.

    Elsewhere in the women's singles China's Xuerui Li beat Spain's Carolina Marin 21-14 21-12 in a one-sided encounter.

    And in the men's event Japan's Kenichi Tago - beat Dane Hans-Kristian Vittinghus. The fourth seed Tago will now face the favourite Chong Wei Lee in the semi-finals.

    Whilst in the men's doubles, top seeds Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia reached the semi-finals as they beat their Malaysian opponents 21-16, 21-19.
