Victories for USA women and Argentina men moves them closer to semi-finals.

    Script:

The USA women's hockey team moved a step closer to qualifying for the semi-final stage of the Hockey World Cup with a 4-1 win over Germany.

The Americans maintained their unbeaten record in the Netherlands with a convincing win over the Germans. Kathleen Sharkey scored twice in the win - her first coming two minutes before half time.

Before Katie Reinprecht put the game beyond Germany.

There was still time for Sharkey to score her second.

Before Germany got a late consolation through Kristina Hillman.

4-1 it ended, and with Argentina playing China in their last game the win means the USA only need a draw to make it to the last four of the competition.

No such problems for Germany's men's side - they edged New Zealand in an eight goal thriller

Florlan Fuchs put Germany ahead as early as the second minute.

Martin Zwicker then made it two.

The Black sticks got a goal back from a penalty corner - Andy Hayward getting his first of three goals.

But Christopher Zeller restored Germany's two goal cushion before Zwicker got his second of the game in a 5-3 win.

But it looks like Germany may miss out on the semi finals after Argentina put five past South Korea in their match. Gonzalo Peillat getting a hat-trick.

And Guillermo Schickendantz made it five nil to give them a great chance of reaching the last four.
