  • Intro:

Hosts Netherlands beat Germany 1-0 in FIH Men's Hockey World Cup group match on Friday (6th June).

    Script:

After New Zealand lost to Argentina earlier in the day, hosts Netherlands knew that a win over near neighbours Germany would take them to top spot in Group B of the Hockey World Cup.

And in Jeroen Hertzberger they had a man in form to put them ahead early on against the Germans.

The 28-year-old's goal puts him third on the list of top scorers so far in the World Cup.

Germany had their chances from short corners, yet their first attempt was penalised for a shot above the defenders knee.

And their next with just six minutes to play was brilliantly saved by Jaap Stockmaan in the Dutch goal.

Holland maintain their 100% record, while Germany have won one and lost two, leaving them fighting for a top two spot to reach the semi-finals.
