  • Intro:

Novak Djokovic reached the final of the 2014 French Open after beating Ernests Gulbis in four sets in their semi-final at Roland Garros on Friday (6th June).

The second semi-final saw Rafael Nadal keep his dream of a fifth straight French Open title alive on Friday (6th June) as he comprehensively defeated number seven seed Andy Murray in straight sets in the semi-final at Roland Garros.

    Script:

Friday's first men's semi-finals saw Novak Djokovic face Latvian Ernests Gulbis.

The only previous meeting between the two on clay came in 2008, here at Roland Garros with theSerbian winning in straight sets.

And it quickly became no laughing matter for Gulbis, going two sets down in just over an hour.

The notoriously flamboyant Latvian looked defeat here early in the third, yet an unlikely mistake from Djokovic allowed Gulbis back in the game and the World No 2 couldn't quite believe it.

Gulbis then took the third set - and he was right back in it.

However, the World No 17's unforced error count was almost triple that of Djokovic's by the fourth set, and the Serbian was back in the grove finding the lines.

He broke at 4-3 to serve for the set and made no mistake with a to love service game to move into the final.

Where he would face either Rafael Nadal or Andy Murray.

Murray facing the eight time Roland Garros Champion got off to the worse start losing his opening service game.

Couple that with Nadal's serve being on form and it looked to be a long day for the Wimbledon Champion.

The Spaniard looked in sublime form and there was little Murray could do going down a double break in the second - losing it 6-2.

Into the third and again Murray was broken early.

Probably rally of the match came here with some impressive instinct shots from Murray, yet it just didn't seem his day.

The third break of the third set came following a further blistering forehand from the Spaniard who goes into Sunday's showdown with Djokovic looking for his fifth French Open in a row.

And you certainly wouldn't bet against the Spaniard in this form.
