Simona Halep reached her first Grand Slam final after beating Andrea Petkovic at the French Open on Thursday.
With the prospect of a final against Maria Sharapova the prize on offer, Halep started the stronger of the two, taking the opening set 6-2 in just 28 minutes.
However Petkovic was much improved in the second set and the 28th seed forced a tie-break.
Sharapova leads the head-to-head record between the pair 3-0, including a victory in the final of last month's Madrid Open.
