    Novak Djokovic eases through in three sets against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to move into the quarter-finals of the French Open in Paris on Sunday (June 1st).

    The French Open produced a shock as Roger Federer was dumped out by Ernests Gulbis in five sets, 6-7, 7-6, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.

    It's Federer's earliest exit at Roland Garros since 2004, when he was beaten in the third round by Gustavo Kuerten

    The fourth-seeded Federer was in poor form on Sunday, being broken seven times, including twice while serving for a set.

    Novak Djokovic made light work of home favourite Jo-Wilfred Tsonga as he beat the Frenchman in three sets 6-1, 6-4, 6-1.

    Roland Garros is the only Grand Slam missing from the Serb's trophy cabinet, he is looking to reach the final for the second time.

    He will be up against eighth seed Milos Raonic, who reached his first Grand Slam quarter-final after defeating Marcel Granollers.

    Andy Murray is also through to the quarter-finals after a marathon five set match against Philip Kohlschreiber of Germany.

    The British number one eventually prevailing 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 12-10 after the game was suspended on Saturday due to fading light.

    He will be up against Spain's Fernando Verdasco in the next round.

    John Isner failed in his bid to become the first American man to reach the French Open quarter-finals since Andre Agassi in 2003.

    He fell to Tomas Berdych in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

    No American man has made it to the quarter-finals at any Grand Slam tournament since 2011.

    In the women's matches, Maria Sharapova kept her hopes alive in Roland Garros after a spectacular comeback against Sam Stosur.

    The Russian won her last nine games to beat the Australian 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 and secure a quarter-final spot.

    Eugenie Bouchard is also through after defeating Angelique Kerber of Germany earlier in the day.
