    Australia defeated Korea 3-2 and New Zealand beat Belgium 4-3 in the opening women's Group A games of the Rabobank Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands on Saturday.

    Australia and Korea played out a thrilling match in their opening Group A game of the Rabobank Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands on Saturday.

    Korea's Park Mihyun fired the ball across the circle to an unmarked Cheon Eunbi for a 1-0 lead.

    The Hockeyroos came back into the game when Emily Hurtz equalised.

    Anna Flangan had already completed the comeback for Australia when she converted a penalty stroke to make it 3-1.

    Korea pulled one back but 3-2 it finished.

    Whatever you can do, we can do better was the message as New Zealand and Belgium scored seven goals between them in their Group A clash.

    Krystal Forgesson opened the scoring before New Zealand raced into a 4-0 lead.

    But Barbara Nelen started the comeback before Belgium scored twice more. Nevertheless, the Black Sticks' didn't come unstuck and ran out 4-3 victors.
