There was a famous face watching when the 18th stage of the Giro d'Italia got underway on Thursday.
Ferrari's F1 driver Fernando Alonso watched on, as the riders set off on a gruelling 171 kilometre ride from Belluno to Rifugio Panarotta with three leg burning climbs.
A large part of the race passed off uneventfully, until with a little under 20 kilometres to go the riders finally began to make their move.
Quick Step's Thomas de Gendt broke away early - the Belgian did the same on Wednesday - and like then it had the same result.
A chasing group containing Trek's Julian Arredondo and Fabio Duarte got close - and soon overtook.
Overall leader Nairo Quintana of Moviestar was in the chasing peleton close to the leaders, but with his immediate rivals nearby, was content to cruise along in the pack.
Arredondo powered ahead with compatriot Duarte trying, but ultimately failing to keep the pace.
He was on his own as he wobbled across the line to claim the win some 17 seconds ahead of Duarte, with Team Sky's Philip Deignan a further 20 seconds back.
Arredondo now leads the 'King of the Mountains' table.
Quintana crossed the line safely along with his rivals, and remained 1 minute and 41 seconds ahead of fellow Colombian Rigoberto Uran, with Pierre Rolland moving into third place as former race leader Cadel Evans slipped to ninth.
