  • Intro:

Eugenie Bouchard, 20, said whilst she believes she 'played really well' she can still 'improve her serve and return' despite beating Shahar Peer, 27, (ISR) 6-0 6-2 in the opening round of Roland Garros on Monday. The Canadian won 63 per cent of points from her first serve -- Pe'er claimed 70 per cent -- and struck a total of 24 winning returns -- Pe'er achieved 17.

SOUNDBITE (English) Eugenie Bouchard beat Shahar Peer 6-0 6-2 (Q. You're always critical of yourself. What would you be critical of today, even though it was a fairly clear-cut win?):

"Well, I think I played really well. I'm most of all happy with that. I think I can always improve, I can always improve on my serve and on my return. But, I mean, generally I think I did a good job. Especially with the rain delay it's always tough to go back out and keep the momentum and things like that. They can often switch in the other person's direction. So I'm happy that I really stayed focused and just a few little things, just always trying to improve everything, but nothing, you know, glaring today."
