Sherwood makes X-Fighters history

Monday, May 26 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Levi Sherwood, 23, achieved a record breaking eighth Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour victory on Sunday. The Kiwi overcame Rémi Bizouard, 28, and Daniel Torres, 27, -- who finished second and third respectively -- at Osaka Castle, Japan.

    Script:

The ancient walls of Japan's famous Osaka Castle was the battleground for the second stop of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour on Sunday.

27-year-old Spaniard Daniel Torres came third after this run. The 2011 X-Fighters World Tour champion currently occupies fourth spot in the consolidated standings.

Rémi Bizouard of France finished second and lies in second place in the overall leaderboard.

But today's talking point was Levi Sherwood, who was delighted with his record breaking eighth X-Fighters victory:

    SOUNDBITE (English): Levi Sherwood

"I am really excited after this one. I feel like I rode really well today and made a few mistakes in that final. I kind of ... I guess I nearly 'let my hair' down (relaxed) a little bit much after I seen Remi [Bizouard] make a couple of small mistakes. Yeah, nearly cost me, but I can only move forward and challenge myself next time."

Sherwood's father was a professional speedway racer and he'll want to keep his foot on the gas in Madrid next month.
