Ana Ivanovic beat Carla Suarez-Navarro to reach the semi-finals of the Italian Open, where she was joined by her compatriot Jelena Jankovic, who came through a tough contest against Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska.

    Script:

24 hours after ending her seven match losing streak against Maria Sharapova, Ana Ivanovic faced Carla Suarez-Navarro in the quarter finals of the Italian Open.

Ivanovic, a former world number one, was a losing finalist on the clay of Stuttgart - and she looked in good form here.

The 11th seed winning four straight games to take the opening set 6-4.

Although the Serbian lost the second set to the battling Suarez-Navarro, Ivanovic came through in the decider thanks to some fine groundstrokes.

Ivanovic clearly delighted with her 6-4 3-6 6-4 win and the prospect of facing Serena Williams in the last four.

Another player in the semi-finals is Ivanovic's compatriot Jelena Jankovic.

The 2007 and 2008 Italian Open champion had lost her five most recent meetings against Agnieszka Radwanska, but she got the perfect start.

After breaking the third seed in the opening game, Jankovic was made to work hard as both players engaged in long, competitive rallies.

Jankovic eventually took the opener 6-4,

And Jankovic, another former world number one, got the crucial break in the ninth game of the second set to put herself on the verge of victory.

And an errant Radwanska forehand gave Jankovic a 6-4 6-4 win.

She will now face Sara Errani for a place in the final.
