Agnieszka Radwansa may be a fan's favourite on the WTA Tour but the Pole had the crowd against her for her third round tie against Francesca Schiavone in Rome.
It was no problem for the third seed, who defeated the Italian in straight sets.
Radwanska will face either Jelena Jankovic or Flavia Pennetta in the quarter-finals.
Li Na is also through to the last eight after recording her first ever victory over Sam Stosur.
Li had lost all seven of their previous meetings but she ended that run to set up a quarter-final tie against Sara Errani.
