Andy Murray celebrated his 27th birthday with a third round win over Jurgen Melzer at the Rome Masters. There were also wins for Tommy Haas and Milos Raonic.

Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka faced the experienced Tommy Haas in the third round of the Rome Masters on Thursday.

Wawrinka claimed the first set but 36-year-old Haas fought back to break early in the second.

And the 15th seed completed his shock victory with an ace to maintain his perfect record against Wawrinka.

Haas will face either Tomas Berdych or Grigor Dmitrov in the quarter-finals.

Milos Raonic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga fought out a hard hitting battle but the Canadian just had the edge.

Tsonga saved one match point but couldn't prevent Raonic from sealing his place amongst the last eight.

Andy Murray celebrated his 27th birthday by defeating Jurgen Melzer in straight sets.
