Al-Rayyan meet Belogorie Belgorod in FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship final

    The Qatari side defeated the defending champions Sada Cruzeiro 21-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18 to reach the final.

    The FIVB Men's Club World Championship will have a new champion after Sada Cruzeiro's attempts to defend their title was stopped by Al-Rayyan.

    The local side took the first set of their semi-final 25-21, but from there the Qatari outfit took over.

    After wining the second set 25-18, Al-Rayyan's control of the contest took on a new dimension as Wallace De Souza's serve went long when defending set point in the third.

    Both teams exchanged mistakes at the first track of the third set, but it was Al-Rayyan the one that improved first.

    Al-Rayyan made it three straight sets and the match soon after to book their place in the final where they'll meet European champions Belogorie Belgorod.

    Belgorod went into the game as the only unbeaten team left in the competition and were hot favourites to reach the final, but their opponents had other ideas.

    UPC played with high intensity and forced five service errors from Belgorod as they sprung a surprise in taking the first set 25-19.

    Belgorod got into their stride though and breezed throught the second set 25-14 to level the match before taking the next two sets.

    Belgorod closed out a 19-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-20 win in an hour and 41 minutes of play to make the final.
