SOUNDBITE: (English) Marcel Kittel, Giant-Shimano rider and winner of stage two

"The stage, the profile wasn't too hard but 220 kilometres in the rain and the cold is not easy. You had to just do the basic things - eating, drinking, trying to stay warm - and I'm happy that I managed to do that and be fresh in the final there."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Marcel Kittel, Giant-Shimano rider and winner of stage two:

"I'm very proud of the fact that we won the first stage immediately of the Giro and I think now we can look forward to the next stage. I hope that the weather is getting a bit better, I don't know it's still raining but yeah we are going to do the best out of it now."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Marcel Kittel, Giant-Shimano rider and winner of stage two (on riding in the red jersey):

"I don't know how thick it is but I hope that it keeps me warm. We are used to the rain now and I think it can't get much worse than today so we just do the same like today and in the end I hope it's again a sprint."
