President Putin plays ice hockey

Sunday, May 11 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Vladimir Putin has taken part in an annual all-Russia festival of amateur ice hockey.

The Russian president scoring six goals and managing five assists to help his team to victory against the Night Hockey League Stars.

    Script:

Is there nothing this man cannot do?

Russian President Vladimir Putin fleshes out his CV of an evening.

To the section marked, hobbies and interests, he now pens in ice hockey.

Laying down the gauntlet to his fellow world leaders.

And he even scores a goal...six on the night in fact, plus five assists, helping his team to a 21 - 4 victory.

But to be honest, would you dare take out the man currently threatening to invade Ukraine, or even tackle him, or for that matter catch his eye. Probably not.

Putin joined by Russia's Defence Minister, as well as former professional players and amateurs of the Night Hockey League in Sochi.

"We have no winners and no losers, it's a friendly game, it's a show. Everyone enjoyed it. If such things as the Night Hockey League become useful, however little, and will help people to join the sport, we will consider that the goal is achieved."

Putin making the peace sign for the team photo. A touch of irony perhaps.
