Anaesthetist testifies on day 28 of Oscar Pistorius' murder trial in Pretoria, South Africa on Thursday (8th May).

    Script:

    SOUNDBITE (English) Gerrie Nel, Prosecutor:

"If she was a normal person that had something to eat, went to bed after 8 hours she would have expected her stomach to be empty. In normal circumstances don't look for exceptions?"

++UPSOUND PROF AINA LUNDGREN- NOT IN VISION INCLUDES VISUALS OF COURT++

"My lady, I understand from the evidence that I have seen that the meal was a chicken stir-fry and we know that stir- fries have vegetables in them. And if there was indigestible fibre in the vegetables, I don't think that anybody can categorically state that her stomach would have been empty after 8 hours as has been said in professor Saayman's report it varies from person to person, from day to day. The late Reeva Steenkamp was pre-menopausal and she had been asleep as far as I understand the evidence. So I don't think that one can be that categorical, my lady."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Gerrie Nel, Prosecutor:

"What is exceptional about a stir-fry, what is exceptional? There is nothing exceptional. Normal people have that kind of food daily, am I right?"

++UPSOUND PROF AINA LUNDGREN- NOT IN VISION INCLUDES VISUALS OF COURT++

"I don't understand the question my lady?"

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Gerrie Nel, Prosecutor:

"Why would say that the fact that she has a stir-fry meal we should take into account, why?"

++UPSOUND PROF AINA LUNDGREN- NOT IN VISION INCLUDES VISUALS OF COURT++

"My lady as I have just said, if it contained vegetables with insoluble fibre, that may have delayed gastric emptying in addition she was asleep."
