    Seventh seed Andy Murray and 12th seed Grigor Dimitrov booked places in round three of the Madrid Open on Wednesday, but Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the 11th seed went out.

    At the Madrid Open, 12th seed Grigor Dimitov was up against wild card Marius Copil in a match up where the writing seemed to be on the wall.

    Instead the Bulgarian faced an extremely tough task getting past Copil.

    Eventually defeating his opponent in three sets with a final set tie break, 4-6 6-3 7-6, he will now face sixth seed Tomas Berdych in the next round.

    Meanwhile, Andy Murray made the perfect start to his clay-court campagin with a battling victory over Nicolas Almagro in the second round.

    The seventh seed was playing in his first match for a month and following a simple first set, he struggled in the second set.

    The Wimbledon champion pulled through in the decisive third set, sealing the victory 6-1 1-6 6-4.

    Murray will face meets Santiago Giraldo in the next round.

    This, after the Colombian upset 11th seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the second round in Madrid.

    The Frenchman was beaten 6-4 6-3 by Giraldo who entered the tournament fresh from his appearance in the Barcelona final.
