    Agnieszka Radwanska survived a tough encounter with Svetlana Kuznetsova before reaching the third round of the Madrid Open, but 13th seed Caroline Wozniacki lost to Roberta Vinci on Wednesday (7 May).

    Third seed Agnieszka Radwanska saved three match points in a row before edging out Svetlana Kuznetsova in a tense final set tie-break in the second round of the Madrid Open on Wednesday.

    The Pole dominated the first set, breaking Kuznetsova in her first two service games before going on to claim it 6-3.

    Both players faltered on serve in the second, with seven of the 10 games being breaks, Kuznetsova eventually coming out on top 6-4.

    That theme continued in the third set, but this time the pair couldn't be separated and a tie-break was needed.

    It looked as though Kuznetsova might be cause an upset when she moved 6-3 in front, but Radwanska then rattled off five points in a row to clinch victory.

    She is next up against Roberta Vinci in round three after the Italian eliminated 13th seed Caroline Wozniacki.

    The Dane appeared hampered by a knee injury her in a 6-3 6-3 defeat.
