Oscar Pistorius arrived back at court as his murder trial resumed in Pretoria, South Africa, on Monday.

    Script:

The murder trial of Oscar Pistorius resumed on Monday after a recess of more than two weeks.

The 27-year-old, whose also known as the Blade Runner, doesn't dispute that he did shoot his then girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, through a toilet door in the early hours of Valentine's Day last year.

However. he claims the killing was an accident.

Pistorius maintains that he fired his pistol four times in quick succession without thinking, in the belief that an intruder was breaking into his house in Pretoria and was about to attack him.

Prosecutors charge that the story is an intricate lie designed to cover up a murder.

Charged with premeditated murder, the first amputee to run at an Olympic Games faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.

The trial, which has drawn world-wide attention, will be disrupted by another public holiday on Wednesday, when South Africans go to the polls to vote.
