Third seed Granollers reaches quarter-finals after beating Montanes.

Third seed Marcel Granollers ended Albert Montanes' campaign for a third Portugal Open trophy on Wednesday.

The World number 31 rallied from a set down to record a 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-2 triumph over the 2009 and 2010 winner here in two hours and 19 minutes on court.

Despite taking the first set with relative ease Montanes was unable to to snatch the second where there were no breaks at all.

Granollers took the momentum of the tie-break win into the third set and went on take a comfortable victory.

Granollers next faces qualifier Daniel Gimeno-Traver, who became the first player to reach the quarter-finals on Wednesday after a 6-3, 7-6(2) victory over wild card Rui Machado.
